On the day of Diwali during the Diwali puja muhurat/time before performing the vidhi, set up a puja platform in your mandir or in your puja room. A simple small cleaned stool works like a charm for your puja platform in case you don’t have one specific for the purpose. Place a red cloth on the stool and the asna for Maa Lakshmi is ready.

Keep a handful of grains in front of the asana or platform. Place a kalasha either made up of silver or bronze in the middle of grains. Fill the Kalash almost three-fourths of the volume with water and put a betelnut along with one marigold, a coin, and some rice grains. Place 5 mango/asopalav leaves on the Kalash covering the whole circular region acting as a lid.

An image or an idol of Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha is then made to sit on the asana for the puja vidhi during the Diwali puja vidhi muhurat mentioned above. It is necessary to note that Lord Ganesha will be on the right-hand side of Goddess Lakshmi. After this, items that represent prosperity like silver and gold are kept around the platform. You can keep account books and other wealth and business-related items. The main diya keeps facing the murti/statue of Durga Mata or the Durga Mata photo frame. It can be kept burning for the night. Both of them are easily available from PujaNPujari.
