Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chavithi. It is one of the famous Hindu festivals celebrated throughout India with great devotion. This festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha. Lord Vinayaka is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi Mata. He is the symbol of good fortune, prosperity, and knowledge. As per Hindu scriptures, Lord Vinayaka is considered as Vigna Harta the one who removes obstacles and Buddhi Pradaayaka. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on Shukla Chaturthi of the month of Bhadrapada generally, it falls between August and September.
On the ganesh chaturthi hindus worship for Lord Ganesha by placing ganesh idol in their home. By keeping the environmental pollution in mind everyone is choosing eco friendly ganesh idols for puja. There are 21 different types of Patras suggested for lord Ganesh on Ganesh Puja it is known as Patra Puja. Doing puja with 21 types of Patras is called as Ekavimsati Puja.

1. Shami Patra
The Shami Patra tree is found in temples of lord shiva and lord Subramanya swami and worshiped by people. Goddess Aparajitha Devi lived in the Shami Patra tree is believing from ancient days. According to ancient mythology, the legend Pandavas had hidden their weapons on top of the tree to dupe Kauravas and avoid another spell of stay in the forests. 3. Bruhathi Patram
Bruhathi plant is not usually grown as a vegetable and can found in the open land or wildlands. It grows very close to ground level land and bears thorny leaves, bitter fruits with thorny pods. It exhibits white and yellow color flowers. These fruits and leaves can use in medicinal purposes. At the time of Patra Samarpan to the god Ganesha chant below mantra.

4. Bilva Patram
These leaves are favorite to lord shiva it can use in the worship of lord shiva. The trifoliated form of leaves represents the trident that Lord Shiva holds in his right hand. In Hindus, many people have Bilva Trees in their homes. Belva leaves are used in many medicinal properties. Oil of the Bilva tree to be effective against different types of bacteria. Dhurvayugmam is also called as Garika. According to Hindu mythology, the grass was formed from the body hair of king Prajapati. By using of grass garlands made to offer Lord Ganesha. 6. Datura Patra
Datura tree is also known as Ummetta, Kanaka, etc. Datura metal is commonly known as evils or devils trumpet and metal. Datura plants all parts contain dangerous levels of tropane alkaloids and may be fatal if ingested by humans or other animals, including livestock and pets. In some places in India, it is prohibited to buy or cultivate Dhattura plants. This tree leaves can use to please Lord Ganesha. 7. Badri Patra
Badri tree is a thorny tree it is also known as Regu tree. This tree has very tasty fruit and it grows in very dry conditions. It is a thorny tree no one enters this tree. So many birds build their nests in this tree to be safe from reptiles which would eat their eggs. Badri tree fruit is mentioned in Ramayana as Shabari offered them to lord Sri Rama after tasting them. So Badri Patras can help to please the lord Vinayak. 8. Apamarga Patra

10. Mangifera Indica or Mango Patram or Chota Patram
Mangifera indica is also known as Mango leaves. In places with a torrid climate, this tree could be easily grown. These mango leaves are tied in the front of the home main entrances. 11. Karaveera or Arali Patra
Arali Patra is also called as Ganneeru. The scented flowers bloom in clusters at the end of each branch. This flower has different colors white, pink, red and yellow. 12. Vishukrantha Patra

13. Dhadimi Patra
Dhadimi tree is also known as Pomegranate tree. These Dhadimi trees grown for their fruits. The fruit inside seeds reddish in color and these reddish seeds are compared to Lord Krishna teeth. These fruit seeds rich in iron, vitamins and other minerals. Pomegranate tree flowers possess a beautiful fluorescent color and it is mentioned in many Sanskrit words. 14. Devadaru Patra

15. Maruvaka Patra or Marjoram Patra

19. Ashwattha Patra
Ashwattha tree is also known as the Bodhi tree, peepal tree, Ravi tree. Ashwattha tree is considered one of the sacred trees by the followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. 20. Arjuna Patra

21. Arka Patra
Arka Patra is also known as Jilledu. The word Arka means the Sun. In Ayurveda, these leaves can use in many medicines. It is an easily available tree. These 21 different types of leaves are suggested for Ganesha Chaturthi Puja, known as Patris Puja or Patra Puja.
As per Ganesha Purana, Tulasi and Lord Ganesha cursed each other, Tulasi leaves are not offered to Lord Ganapathi on normal days. But, as an exception, Tulasi leaves are offered to Lord Ganesh Idol for Ganesh Chaturthi which is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi Puja.
